Having been lying on the sofa like a couch potato for most of my resting time, I began to experience some backache. The more than 3 years old sofa has a sinking base due to some years of usage and to solve the problem I have a plank of plywood cut out to fit the base below the cushions. This idea was brought up by one of my bro-in -law on one of his visits. Thanks to you, Pik Lee. Now I do not have to suffer anymore backache or difficulty in getting up from the firm sofa. So if any of you have any sinking sofa, try to get a plywood from your carpenter with the correct measurement and it will save you some dough instead of throwing it away.
The cut out plywood placed below the cushions....
The makeover sofa as good as new.......

sweetjasmine,
My grandpa did that to the sofa at his house. hehe.
Kok-Great idea ya? why I never thought about it then. So the reason for the sharing here. Have a nice weekend.
SJ...simple idea but very practical. Some people (like me :p) could never come up with alternatives or choices other than from the routine ones. As the malay saying "lurus bendul" :)
Haha JS ... my hubby did just that after I mentioned backaches, lying on the sofa while watching the telly. BUT .. the stiff plank of wood was worse it seems (if u ever sat on wooden bench in trains for a long journey - u would understand what i'm implying here),
so we r back with the creaking springs underneath .. sigh ..
Hope u will be back on ur feet soon :-)
I would never have thought of that idea, will keep it in mind, you never know when the sofa will give up on you...haha...thanks
kenari - Hi, guess I am also one of those 'lurus bendul'... btw nice to see you over here.
Hi Dutchie, mine is not so bad after the makeover..maybe your sofa is not thick or soft enough to cushion the stiffness of the wood. Hope u can find a solution other than this. Thanks for swinging by.
ck lam - Nowadays even the expensive sofas will let u down after a few years.
Bro. Lee came for the plywood for a few times... sorry for the inconveniences. How's Raymond? Ok d?
What a great recycling idea! Hope you feel better soon. Come over and check out the picture of the smiling moon we took last night.
