Missing My CNY Cookies........

Every year I will bake some of my favorite cookies for Chinese New Year. But this year I make none due to a number of reasons. Firstly, my health fails me due to a comeback of my arthritis (RA) attack rendering me weak with a swollen knee and painful joints. My recent change of medication is also giving me some heart stopping moments. To add to the sufferings my ungrateful maid pack her bags and ran away with her Indonesian boyfriend on Christmas eve leaving me in a jumble with household chores to slave over and a cancelled housemoving planned earlier to a later date.

I am just back from my visit to my rheumatologist in KL. A steroid jab and syringing out nearly 50 ml of fluid in my knee joint brought some relief. Hopefully my swelling and pain will not come back or else I will have to face a bleak CNY. I bought some cookies back from my hometown but my boys rant it is not as good as my homemake ones. So everybody is missing my cookies yeah? I miss baking them too. Here is looking back at the cookies I baked last year....

Hope you are feeling better. I have roasted the almonds and will bake the almond london cookies this Thursday using your recipe. I didn't want to do too early because every jar of cookies I baked earlier have been wiped clean. So, wait last last minute baru attempt this one or else I will have no cookies when CNY is here.

Take care! And thanks for the recipe!

lilian - I can just understand yr delay in making the cookies as I too have to hide them somewhere safe til CNY as they disappear as fast as soon as they are out of the oven.
As for now I am much better but will safe my energy for household chores and staying healthy for the new year. Will love to see how the cookies turn out as I might invite myself over for some snacks :)

Hope you are feeling better to celebrate the CNY. You can go get some homemade CNY cookies from your sister right? ;) I think she bakes too. I do agreed that some of the homemade ones do taste a lot nicer than the store-bought ones.

ck lam - Actually the chocolate ones tastes better than the white chocolate as the latter is too sweet. As for housemoving it has to be after CNY as I will be back to hometown for the celebration:)

Little corner of mine- I am still getting the ugly side effects of my RA drugs(Arava) which I have since stop taking few days ago. I do get some goodies from my family members this year. "Gong Xi Fatt Chai"...

Grace, thanks for dropping by. Yeah, RA has been giving me some damage joints and immobility not to say the disturbing pain on and off. As it is incurable, I have live life the best way as I can possible. CNY will not be fun without cookies to enjoy. Wish u can try making some to enjoy.

Regret to hear of your RA problems....but glad you feeling better.
My thoughts are with you Jasmine for a speedy recovery. Back to old times, *wink*.

Never mind. Anyway, who says you can only bake CNY cookies during CNY??? So, when you get better, bake a batch of your fav cookies and pig out! They all look so good. My fav is the Almond London dark choc!

Kong Hei Fatt Choy! Hope you feel better soon.

I am experiencing the same joints pains but not so in the knee, just my feet and hands, so I can totally understand what you are going through. I can't bake much and have been rather miserable of late. But cudn't resist the tarts. Steroid jabs don't help much, from the last one I took. I hope you'll feel better soon. Take care, my friend.
