Wood Carving @ Mas Village.......

Many talented artist can be found in Ubud district. Each village had its own Balinese cultural art like gold and silversmith in Celuk, wood carver at Mas village, and famous paintings in Batuan village. After visiting the gold and silversmith in Celuk, we stopped at Mas village to see the wood carvings. These balinese artisans can carve anything ranging from intriguing masks and exquisite floral patterns to the anatomy of the human body with or without clothes from a piece of wood. Here are some pics to show what I mean.......

Balinese wood carvers at work................

Masks and small figurine............

A beautiful chess set carvings.....................

Coffee tables for a hotter cuppa.........?

Sensual art...................

I bought this lovely balinese lady in blue sarong carved from mahogany wood. See the exquisite floral carving of the coffee table..?

Note: Will be back to hometown today, so will be MIA here til next Wednesday.

The details on the wood carving look great, albeit a little provocative for some.

bengbeng - I pass thru Kuta street where the bombing site was and that place has a memorial built for those 200 plus people killed at that spot. Will post up a pic later.
I think you must have been to Jimbaran bay too as this is the only place where they place tables and chairs along the long stretch of beach........

Hi Jasmine, Holy Smoke! I love those coffee tables....If I am there I'll get both of them and get it flown back...ha ha, just imagining when our friends or when having our coffee chats...sitting around that table...no need to think what subject to talk, arhaaa ha ha.
Can just imagine...we have one matured lady here, she's a real conservative prude...here eyes will not blink, her mouth will not close if sees this in my place, and sitting beside it having coffee, ha ha.
Yes, if I ever go to Bali....that table will be flown back.
Have a beautiful weekend, Lee.
