A Night Out at Mr. Pot.....@ Gurney Drive.......

What is so nice about Penang is that when almost everybody is dozing away in slumberland.....you can still sneak out for some midnight happy hour with friends who are hungry for more food at some of the nicest place in town ....with the smell of sea and cool breezes against your face while you enjoy your late supper. One of this place is the Mr. Pot cafe....located along the famous Gurney Drive. It is a 24 hour joint serving a wide range of food from steaks to your favourite fried beehoon and nasi lemak at a reasonable price. If there is need for a beer or a glass of wine.....they had it all on their menu. For those working late ....you can still get connected there if you bring along your lappy....which is a wifi area. Here are some of the food we had recently on our midnight rendezvous........

Ice-cream sandwich...........................

Toasted roti kaya...............with butter.

Bread with curry chicken............my favourite......

BBQ chicken with fried rice.................

The place still pack with people late into the night on a weekday....it is quite difficult to find seats on weekends......

Hello Sweet Jasmine, ahhhh, you torment me with these lovely pics of Penang dishes, ha ha.
I have always loved Gurney drive.
Love the old days I dated Penang's Nonya ladies, few would wear specialy for me, my favourite dress, sarong kebaya....and we would have dinner at Gurney Drive. And as my Hokkien rather rusty, love to hear my date ordering the dishes in her Penang Hokkien, so lembut Penang Hokkien.
And Sweet Jasmine, when I heard the first time with my Apple, your 'Bengawan Solo' playing here, ahhh, I terus know and appreciate you my kind of lady.
And ahemm, thats how I fell in love with my wife then, she too loves 'Bengawan Solo' as well can sing very well.
Another favourite of mine is 'Dahil Sayo'. My wife sings that very well during our karoake parties here.
As mentioed to you in my reply at my blog, I really love Penang, being a romantic, ahemmm, at heart...Penang sure is one romantic Island.
Can you imagine, after dinner at Gurney Drive, driving around Penang Island in an open top, red MGB sports car? With, cough, cough pit stop at Batu Ferringhi, *wink* then continue slow drive around the Island, with Los Indios music playing in my car (I have the 3 songs in my blog now same ones I used to play those days) for memories now.
Sweet Jasmine, I would certainly appreciate very much if as you mentioned posting up some pics of Penang.
Used to frequent E & O very often those days too.And love to do the Latin style Tango, 'La Cumparsita'. Can you Tango?
Back in the early 70's used to be friends with quite a few of the lovely Cosmetic girls along Penang Road, Campbell Street.
By the way, have you read a posting of mine, "You are not my son"? If not, when free, take a look, an unusual love story. Let me know when you read it.
Listening toyour "oh Carol" now, ha ha.
Sweet Jasmine, you my kind of lady.
Stay easy and have a nice evening. (We 12 hours BEHIND you), best regards, Lee.
ps, Was looking here whether you have your email address? None. Thought I let you see me, in strict confidence, of course, ha ha. Lee.

sweetjasmine,
This is good about Malaysia actually. Unlike in Australia, the only food you can find after ermmm...12am would be McDonald and Fast Eddy. Probably some Chinese Restaurants are opened. Other than that, sorry. hehe.

That ice-cream, gosh! The ice-cream is so thick! haha! How much is one of those?

u.lee- Hi..lee, nowhere in this world can you get the best laksa, satay, nyonya kuihs, char kuih teow, prawn mee and so on....other than in Penang.
But the modern nyonyas don't go dating in their sarong kebaya anymore...but ballroom dancing is still popular here...for the older folks.
Dating with SYT now are more towards going to the movies and hanging out in food joints rather than tangoing the night away in E&O...

will hop over to read...that 'post'...one of my niece was so addicted..that she finish reading 'the faded letter' post in one sitting...i do not have the heart to read further..especially if it had sad endings...
Looking forward to more of yr adventures...Happy Writing.
